The SARA Form R report is due July 1 each year. You will need to reference this information to determine if your facility is required to file a Form R report for EHS's.

Where to Find the List of Extremely Hazardous Substances

To determine if your facility must submit Tier II forms, MSDSs, and make other notifications under SARA Title III, you must find out if you have extremely hazardous substances at or above their threshold planning quantities. The list of EHSs is located at 40 CFR 355 in Appendices A and B. Appendix A lists the EHSs in alphabetical order and Appendix B lists the EHSs in order of their Chemical Abstract Service (CAS) number.

A CAS number is a unique, identifying number that has been assigned to a particular chemical. It is always a good idea to use a CAS number to verify the presence or absence of a material on the EHS list.

Chemical manufacturers and distributors are required to provide material safety data sheets (MSDSs) to their downstream chemical users. Many MSDSs identify the CAS numbers for the hazardous ingredients contained in mixtures. Therefore, look in the hazardous ingredient section of your MSDSs (which OSHA requires you to have for all your hazardous chemicals) to find where the CAS numbers are listed. Then, you can compare all CAS numbers individually with the EHS list to see what materials at your facility are potentially subject to SARA Title III requirements.
