Here's a regulatory update affecting those who generate silver bearing wastes.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Which precious metals are covered under the 40 CFR Subpart F precious metal exemptions?

According to 40 CFR 266.70, gold, silver, platinum, palladium, iridium, osmium, rhodium, ruthenium, or any combination of these precious metal are covered under this exemption. These metals are subject to somewhat less stringent requirements than other hazardous wastes only if the generator of the waste can demonstrate that the precious metal can be reclaimed from the hazardous waste in economically significant amounts.

Wastes managed under this program are granted regulatory relief from marking, accumulation time limits, training, and weekly inspection requirements.
