In IL the bulbs must pass the TCLP for metals. If they do not they must be handled and manifested as hazardous waste. At this time there is no exemption for disposal of bulbs by companies who are not a manufacturers or distributors of bulbs.

Subject: Disposal of UV light bulbs

I am receiving inquiries regarding disposal of used UV light bulbs. I
am aware of several states, such as FL and WI, that require special
handling for disposal, but are there other states as well? What about
Ohio?
