sulfites

Dear PNEAC members,
I had someone from a WWT facility approach me with a question I can't
answer, so hope someone out there can provide some insight:
Two printers, one newsprint and one that prints on carboard boxes,
are causing problems for the WWT plant because of high levels of
sulfides in their wastewaters. Both are considered low flow
dischargers. I don't have anymore information than that, and he
wants to know where in their processes the sulfides would be coming
from. Does anyone have any ideas? Both of these companies have had
silver discharge problems which have been solved (might their silver
removal process be involved?)
Any help would be appreciated.
