Thanks to all of you that have answered my request for cleaning
alternatives. my client is currently trying a terpene-based cleaner
that he is very happy with. The MSDS's indicate the only hazard
associated with its use is ignitability. Both MSDS list terpene as
the only ingredient yet one is water soluble, while one is not. I
find this puzzling, can someone explain this?
Thanks,

Sherry:

MSDSs are only required to list "hazardous ingerdients" present in
concentrations greater than 1% (0.1% for carcinogens), with some
additional qualifications. The OSHA definition of "hazardous
ingredient" is in 29 CFR 1910.1200 Appendix A.

The water soluble wash probably contains a non-hazardous surfactant.
Even a low concentration of surfactant could permit the formation of a
turpene-water emulsion when the cleaning solvent and water are mixed.
If you call the manufacturer, they may volutarily tell you what the
surfactant is.

P.S. Is there a vendor of these screen cleaners in our Region?
