In regard to information on health effects data. The following publications
can be helpful. Further, you are more likely to find chemicals described by
their broad classification categories, alcohols/propanols, glycol ethers,
hydroxides than always being able to locate them by a CAS number in an on-line
information format (at least that has been by experience).

Clayton, George D., Florence E. Clayton (1994). Patty's Industrial Hygiene and
Toxicology.
Vol I, II, and III.

Hathaway, G. etal. Van Nostrand Reinhold (1991). Chemical Hazards of the
Workplace.

Sittig, Marshall (1991). Handbook of Toxic and Hazardous Chemicals and
Carcinogens. Noyes Publications.

NIOSH Pocket Guide to Chemical Hazards. CDC

and the Environmental Health Information Service of NIEHS is a good website,
however, requires a subscription ($20.00 for students).

Good luck in the search.
