Printech Archives, March 1998: Re: Question about reducing make-ready

Here is a follow up from Frank Gualtieri:

This is just a note to follow up on the correspondence that discuss improving
make ready times and reducing waste on a lithograph press. This subject is
extremely complicated and there is no short term fixes or quick fixes. Some
of the variables could include but not limited to type of press, print
quality level, team work environment, management commitment and production
planning. It may take a printer months to implement a make ready improvement
and a waste reduction program. This also should include a commitment to a long
term and a continues improvement program. Again as Ken Rizzo noted GATF has
worked with printing companies in the past with implementing the GATF Quick
Response Make Ready Program . This alone takes about 4 to 5 weeks to start the
program running.
