I think Judy is on the right trail. First one needs to be sure that only
minimal fixer is carried over into the wash water. This calls for some
sgueegee or roller mechanical device to limit carry-over. I think that then,
if the silver concentrations are fairly low, the washwater can be routed into
the ion exchange columns for polishing before discharge to the sewer.
