Diacetone alcohol is made via an aldo condensation of two acetone
molecules. If proper storage of the product is NOT followed,
oxidation of the material will revert the material to acetone. The flash point of a pure
material will never increase as it evaporates! As a mixture evaporates, the more volatile materials will
evaporate, relative to the vapor pressure of each component-always leaving a mixture
of materials usually in the same flash point range! The components of a mixture will never leave the
mixture one at a time by vapor pressure or flashpoint.
