Another consideration when looking into resale of used equipment is the
ability to get a fair estimate on the equipment. Too often the seller walks
away with a loss because they did not understand the value of the equipment
being sold. Technicians should be the first sought to give an idea on the
overall condition and worth. Then the market needs to be considered. As was
stated, an AB Dick 9800 series press may be in good condition or new but
there are several models. The 9870 press has had numerous problems and poor
quality plagues, but the 9810 has a much better record. Also, models of
heidelberg Kord presses have had changes and modifications to them which are
not always known to the end user.

There are many companies which do nothing but evaluate and estimate the value
of printing equipment from cameras to cutters.
