A study conducted by ppm Linz, Chemiewinkel Amsterdam, and
Arbeit&Gesundheit Hamburg, looked into the use of Material Safety Data
Sheets (MSDS) in small enterprises (car repair shops, plastic processing
companies, metal works, and dental laboratories). Interviews were carried
out with persons in various positions within those SMEs in order to
determine whether and how they make use of MSDS.

Findings are not surprising to people working in workplace health and
safety, but a series of recommendations were made by the research team to
improve use and usefulness of MSDS in small enterprises, that may be of
interest to relevant people on the supplier side.

A copy of the final report of this EU funded project can be obtained from
ppm.
