To All: I finally had a chance to speak to George Fuchs at the National Association of Printing Ink Manufacturers about the use of mercury in inks. George conducted a quick literature search and found a reference that HgS was used in the 1950's, but there was any mercury used in inks today.

He wanted to know if it was possible that someone is confusing C.I. Pigment Red 123 also known as C.I. 71145 - Perylene Vermillion with the pigment in question. Red 123 does not contain any mercury or mercury compounds.
