Does anyone have any experience where you were just printing beautifully for years, sheet-fed multi-color presses, getting perfect standard densities on K,C,M,Y ink sequence, and proper dot gains (+9 % on 80% spot; +19% on 40% spot) on the color control bar. Prints started to have only +5% gain on the 80% spot; and about the same on the 40% spot. Prints are washed out and can't match digital color proofs, even can't match former color bars on previous jobs! Could it be the water hardness that causes plate sharpening ?
