I very much agree with the statement about taking an active role in HW management because it is "your" name on that line when sign those papers and have someone dispose of your wastes. You need to feel comfortable with the disposal company that you are using. Concerning the subliminal comments on SK's financial situation, keep in mind that to keep their transporters license and TSDF licenses they must provide each state in which they operate (or EPA depending on the jurisdiction in the state) with documentation that they are maintaining sufficient insurance to meet the regulatory requirements. That in an of itself is not an easy task. Each generator should have copies of the transporters and disposal firms insurance certificates on file before shipping waste off for disposal. If someone presents a certificate of insurance to you, take the time to contact that insurance company and verify that the coverage is still in effect before the load up your waste.
