RADTECH International has been promoting th use of UV and EB cured coatings,
inks and adhesives as a Pollution Prevention technology which virtually
eliminates VOC and HAP. We have been aware that these materials would require
cleaners equally low in VOC and HAP if we are to realize the full potential
of the technology.
We are pleased to report that we have now located such a cleaner which seems
to offer other advantages in addition to very low VOC content. This material,
called Yellow Magic, appears to be equally effective in cleaning water-based
inks and coatings. We thought some of our colleagues on the listserve would
also be interested in such a material. A description and source information
is herewith referred.

our product Yellow Magic is a faster, easier to use cleaning product of
flexographic uv inks, uv varnishes, and many other uv coatings that creates
both new levels of environmental safety and new levels of people safety as
well. Yellow Magic is a water-based product and contains only 2.2% voc's
(22g/l, or 0.18 lbs./gallon). Yellow Magic has a "0" flammability rating;
there is no flash below 210F at which point it boils away (when used as a
spray & wipe, the rag does not become a hazmat). also, Yellow Magic, by
itself, requires no ppe to use.
Yellow Magic cleans everything: anilox rollers, doctor blades, metering
rollers, uv ink pans, sidewalls, press frames, everything! it will also clean
water-based inks as well.
Yelow Magic can be used in any ultra-sonic cleaning machine and it generally
cuts the cleaning cycle time almost in half.
this product is not intended to clean uv adhesive systems. however, Yellow
magic does help clean the adhesive from sticky-backed tape.
we are also coming to market with "hands'afe", a water-based hand cleaner for
the printing industry. the printing industry has been cleaning hands with two
types of products: petroleum-based or high alkaline hand soaps. the
petroleum-based hand cleaners are absorbed through the skin, possibly taking
hazardous ingredients in inks with it. the high alkaline cleaners dry-out
skin and some people may break-out in rashes. "hands'afe" is neither of
these, making it a safer alternative, while still quickly and easily cleaning
inks, grease, etc. off of hands and skin.
