The following special event will be held at WEFTEC' 2000 in October. WEFTEC 2000 SPECIAL EVENT Municipalities, Environmental Planners and Public Educators: Your Role in Drinking Water Source Assessment and Protection presented by The Groundwater Foundation and the Water Environment Federation Groundwater and Public Education Committees What? A half-day workshop designed to educate attendees about: 1) requirements for drinking water source assessment and protection stated in the 1996 Safe Drinking Water Act Amendments; 2) how a state develops a program for drinking water source assessment and protection; 3) your role and involvement on the local level in the drinking water source assessment process; and 4) how to develop local drinking water source protection programs. All workshop attendees will receive a copy of "An Introduction to Drinking Water Source Assessment and Protection", a workshop guide developed by The Groundwater Foundation. Where? Water Environment Federation 73rd Annual Conference & Exposition on Water Quality and Wastewater Treatment, Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim,CA When? Sunday, October 15th, 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Cost? $30 (Please refer to the Ticketed Events section of the WEFTEC 2000 registration form for more information.) Why? Drinking Water Source Assessments and Protection involves the entire watershed community, including: citizens; state and local governments; wastewater treatment officials; municipal and public education officers; water supply authorities; agriculture; and many others.
