Hi: Fountain solution should be continuously filtered on the return through 'bag filters' on the discharge. This not only increases life but also reduces hickies and other blanket contamination that is carried by the fountain solution. There are companies that sell recyclers. They run the soln through a membrane filter to get all of the ink oils and paper fibers out of the mix. Try calling the Canadian Clean Print office at (905) 760-1638. The trick with recycling is to introduce filtered fountain solution back into the system on a dose of 5 to 10 %. Trying to run 100% recycled solution will give press problems and that leads to throughing out the whole concept. Fountain solution as mixed maybe ok to sewer, but what is in it after it has run on the press for a while??. Best Regards Jim Farmer Industrial Performance Group
