| 3.6.98 NAPL's Management Plus
self-evaluation form includes a measure of your company's internal control systems-
everything from operating budgets to waste reporting- to help participants appraise the
usefulness of their systems. This program, which has been sponsored by the American
Printer magazine since 1979, offers a unique diagnostic tool that helps printers judge
their performance against accepted industry standards.
One of the common factors of the 12 areas evaluated is efficiency. For example, one
problem that people often overlook is spoilage which is an aidicator of efficiency. It can
also reveal problems in operation of a press or account for discrepancies in estimating.
A program user is quoted as saying, "We've not only seen measurable results, but
increases in profitability, market share, and volume."
