| 10.6.98 In an address before
the International Prepress Association, Don Hutcheson noted that the rewards of using a
color management system are proven. He noted that advantages include less waste, fewer
remakes, shorter press time, cheaper proofing and easier training. But color management
does have a training curve and there are still technology issues that need to be addressed
including software compatibility and hardware challenges such as screen image uneveness
and reliability compared to hard copy proofs.
