knowledge in determining if a waste is hazardous.
-
The Ohio EPA Office of Compliance Assistance and Pollution Prevention has developed an environmental
Permitting Guide
[PDF] to help businesses determine which environmental permits they need and how to get them.
The guide contains:
- links to permit application forms
- sector-based permit checklists, such as which permits an auto body shop or restaurant would need
- an overview of the permitting process and tips for getting through the process
- a glossary of environmental terms
- a self-evaluation, which includes a list of questions designed to point the reader toward information about the
permits his or her facility may need
-
The Ohio EPA Division of Hazardous Waste Management has a newly revised
Hazardous Waste Generator Handbook
[PDF] as of October, 2009.
The newly updated handbook contains information pertaining to hazardous
waste evaluation, hazardous waste generator categories and requirements,
universal waste requirements, used oil management, pollution prevention
opportunities and hazardous waste inspections. In addition, the
handbook contains a sample contingency plan, information on obtaining a
U.S. EPA identification number, manifest instructions, how to select an
analytical laboratory and how to select a treatment, storage and
disposal facility.
