Some
of the book printing which had traditionally been printed on lithographic presses is now
migrating to print-on-demand digital technology. Out of print and limited edition orders
are the ones most likely to use this process. Waste is reduced since the size of the print
run is more closely matched to the order. An additional benefit is to reduce the minimum
press run, which allows for the production of books with limited or uncertain appeal.
